tackling health inequalities in Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes
Oxford charity receives £13,000 funding

FullCircle Charity in Oxford is celebrating receiving a grant of £13,000.

Using money raised by HealthStrong through The Health Lottery, the grant has been awarded by Peoples Health Trust through Active Communities, a funding programme which invests in local people and groups in communities with great ideas to make their communities even better.

The funding will enable FullCircle to set up and run three intergenerational groups in the Blackbird Leys area of Oxford. This activity will focus on the Blackbird Leys estate and each of the groups will take place on a weekly basis during lunchtime in the three local primary schools. The groups will bring local older and younger generations together with the aim of building respect and understanding across the ages.

Rowen Smith, Manager at FullCircle says:- "We are really looking forward to starting our project in the Blackbird Leys area of Oxford. This funding gives us the opportunity to work more intensively in this locality - setting up intergenerational projects in which the local younger and older generations spend time together. We very much hope that this will be a springboard for future projects bringing the different generations together."

Chris Lunn, Director of HealthStrong says: ‘This projects, supported using money raised by HealthStrong, is extremely valuable to a wide range of individuals in this local area, we look forward to hearing more about how this initiative enables people to live longer healthier lives.

Active Communities is for community groups and not-for-profit organisations with an income of less than £350,000 a year that are seeking investment of between £5,000 and £25,000 a year, for projects lasting up to two years. For more information visit www.peopleshealthtrust.org.uk
